The local community theatre is putting on "Oklahoma!" this weekend, and I will go for the second time this evening. Granted, I am going again so a friend doesn't have to go alone, but "Oklahoma!" is one of those shows that just stands up to multiple viewings.
"Oklahoma!" is my first memory of seeing a show -- I was 8 or 9, and my sister's high school put it on. For years, I thought of it as purely fun. Once I came to understand the importance of this Rodgers and Hammerstein classic, and once I really started to notice the layers and depth of the music and the characters, I started taking it very seriously.
So, without further ado, here is one of my favorite tunes from this great American musical!

Hello, I like this blog.
Sorry not write more, but my English is not good.
A hug from Portugal
I'm that way about "Oklahoma!" as well. I never get tired of it. I suppose that's one definition of masterpiece.
Thanks for the compliment, AS.
CW, I think that is a very good description of a masterpiece. Nothing in this production caught me off guard or came as a surprise, but I enjoyed it just the same. A true classic.
